About the role
This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management, partnering with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a Energy & Utilities environment.
Location: Houston, TX - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available. Compensation: $200,000 – $230,000 annually.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel on engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance matters
- Represent the company in major transactions and negotiate agreements
- Draft and negotiate various contracts including EPC, O&M, Turbine and Module Supply Agreements
- Advise internal teams on operating projects' legal issues
- Supervise outside counsel when necessary
- Assist with additional projects as needed and collaborate with other attorneys
- Work with stakeholders to enhance contracting processes and tools
Qualifications
- JD from a reputable law school with strong academic credentials
- Licensed to practice law
- 7+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably at a major law firm or sophisticated in-house department
- Expertise in construction, procurement, and operations/maintenance for utility-scale energy projects
- Strong business acumen and commercial judgment
- Exceptional communication, teamwork, and project management skills
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
