Senior Counsel

About the role

This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management, partnering with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a Energy & Utilities environment.

Location: Houston, TX - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available. Compensation: $200,000 – $230,000 annually.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance matters
• Represent the company in major transactions and negotiate agreements
• Draft and negotiate various contracts including EPC, O&M, Turbine and Module Supply Agreements
• Advise internal teams on operating projects' legal issues
• Supervise outside counsel when necessary
• Assist with additional projects as needed and collaborate with other attorneys
• Work with stakeholders to enhance contracting processes and tools

Qualifications

• JD from a reputable law school with strong academic credentials
• Licensed to practice law
• 7+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably at a major law firm or sophisticated in-house department
• Expertise in construction, procurement, and operations/maintenance for utility-scale energy projects
• Strong business acumen and commercial judgment
• Exceptional communication, teamwork, and project management skills
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
