Senior Cost Accountant
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in a fast-paced pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in Cost Accounting, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a passion for operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and report manufacturing variances, including PPV and cost revaluations
- Prepare and support Excess & Obsolete (E&O) inventory calculations
- Assist with Lower of Cost or Market (LCM) inventory valuation
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Production, and Warehouse teams during month-end close to resolve inventory issues
- Lead the MRB (Material Review Board) process, including inventory disposition and destruction activities
- Monitor inventory aging and aging work orders while identifying opportunities to reduce excess inventory
- Perform inventory analysis using data from ERP systems, warehouse operations, and production reporting
- Develop dashboards, KPIs, and operational metrics to improve inventory performance
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations supporting inventory and cost accounting
- Support SOX compliance, internal controls, and external/internal audit requests
- Drive continuous improvement by developing new reporting and analytical solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience in Cost Accounting within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of: Inventory Accounting, Standard Costing, Manufacturing Variances, PPV, Inventory Revaluation, Journal Entries, Account Reconciliations, SOX Controls
- Advanced Excel skills
- ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, JDE, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Manufacturing
Qualifications
- Manufacturing or pharmaceutical industry experience
- KPI reporting and dashboard development experience
- Inventory control and warehouse operations experience
- Experience with Continuous Improvement initiatives
Skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, JDE, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar preferred)
