About the Role

As Senior Cost Accountant, reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager - Operations, you will process all inventory movements to meet Operations deadlines, monitor existing inventory processes, analyze transactions to resolve variances, and identify trends for improvement. The role involves routine inventory spot checks, audits, transaction recording, and report creation for management. You will actively participate in developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s accounting practices, procedures, and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Process daily inventory transactions in the system.
  • Monitor inventory movements in the ERP system (GP) and inventory systems (MRO and SalesPad), track orders, define and investigate problems.
  • Perform stock count analysis and reporting as needed, including count frequency and adjustment values.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities: journal entries, financial analysis, account reconciliations, and preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to develop and implement procedures improving inventory control and material movement effectiveness.
  • Conduct process and data audits to ensure control effectiveness and find efficiencies.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and weekly inventory account reconciliation (system to physical).
  • Identify and report risks of errors within the inventory control system to support process improvements.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy when recording material transactions in collaboration with the operations team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing.
  • Monitor the inventory management system to find root causes of problems and identify solutions.
  • Support Cycle Counting, quarterly field bank audits, and annual Physical Inventory.
  • Monitor slow-moving inventory to minimize obsolescence and maximize profitability.
  • Process journal entries and work order cost transfers related to inventory transactions.
  • Support the accounting team during financial statement audits by preparing documentation and facilitating access to records for external auditors.
  • Perform special projects and other tasks as assigned by the Senior Accounting Manager – Operations or the Controller, AeroAdvantage and Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a similar business degree.
  • 5-7 years of accounting, finance, or related experience using financial and operational tools and systems (MRO, ERP), with at least 3-5 years of inventory and cost accounting experience.
  • Proven experience as an Inventory Cost Accountant or in a similar role.
  • Understanding of financial and accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial management software, with strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel and managing large datasets.
  • Analytical skills with strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Knowledge of Cost Accounting, inventory management processes, and tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, supply chain, and procurement workflows and systems.
  • US work authorization is required; the company will not sponsor work-authorized visas.
  • Must satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • CPA designation or CPA in progress.
  • Experience in the aeroderivative industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and/or Microsoft Great Plains Financials systems.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  • Open to growth, driven, and willing to learn in a complex environment.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
