Senior Cost Accountant
About the role
Join a newly established Advanced Manufacturing & Innovation Center being developed in their new Chicago office and play a key role in building the finance infrastructure from the beginning. Work directly with senior leadership, including the GM, gaining exceptional visibility and influence. The Senior Cost Accountant will be part of a state-of-the-art manufacturing environment focused on precision components, laser technology, and advanced production methods. Opportunity to help define costing methodologies, ERP processes, and reporting frameworks as the operation scales. The Senior Cost Accountant will have exposure to both manufacturing finance and operational leadership in a growing business. Hybrid schedule with 3 days in-office and 2 days remote. Initial onboarding in Hoffman Estates with a future move to a downtown Chicago location anticipated late Q1 or early Q2. Opportunity for future leadership growth as the innovation center expands. Broad responsibilities that provide hands-on experience across costing, inventory, production finance, and IFRS reporting. Work within a collaborative environment alongside engineering, production, and executive leadership teams.
Key responsibilities
- Lead manufacturing costing activities, including standard costing for precision components.
- Analyze and explain production cost variances, inventory adjustments, reclassifications, and raw material fluctuations.
- Partner with production and operations leadership to improve financial visibility and performance.
- Support IFRS-based financial reporting requirements.
- Assist in evaluating and implementing ERP solutions and manufacturing finance processes.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on BOM structures and costing accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MBA preferred.
- Manufacturing finance and cost accounting experience in a production environment with 5 years or more experience.
- Strong understanding of inventory, variance analysis, costing methodologies, and financial reporting.
- Experience working with ERP systems and cross-functional manufacturing teams.

Pay
$95,000 to $115,000 per year plus bonus.
