Senior Cost Accountant

About the Role

Allison Transmission powers the vehicles and technology that move our world forward. As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for setting up and maintaining accurate cost information, perpetual inventory systems, warranty and extended transmission coverage analysis, and monthly financial close activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly and quarterly financial close tasks to ensure proper cut-off for assets, liabilities, and expenses.
• Prepare and post general ledger journal entries.
• Analyze financial data and generate financial reports for management.
• Analyze employee benefits to ensure liabilities are appropriately stated and prepare cost reports for management.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve reconciling items.
• Assist in analyzing overhead budget and establishing inventory standards.
• Provide analysis in support of global warranty liabilities, extended coverage liabilities, and expenses to upper management.
• Maintain accounting policies and procedures related to cost accounting activities.
• Work closely with internal and external auditors on financial audits and internal controls testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Business with an accounting major or equivalent required.
• 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis and/or accounting.
• Understanding of US GAAP Principles.
• Experience with SAP or comparable ERP system.
• Exceptional computer skills; expertise with Microsoft Excel.
