About the Role

The Senior Corporate Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and ensures the completeness and accuracy of accounting records while supporting financial operations in accordance with company policies and US GAAP. This role involves assisting with month-end, quarterly, and annual close processes, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Execute month-end closing activities, including journal entries, financial analysis, account reconciliations, and preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing.
  • Adhere to internal closing schedules and reporting deadlines.
  • Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial operating reports, and analyses of key performance measures.
  • Reconcile and maintain schedules for all monthly intercompany journal entries.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries to general ledger accounts and document transaction support.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, verify data accuracy, and report, identify, and correct errors.
  • Assist with day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable/receivable data.
  • Support timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and GL account maintenance.
  • Provide detailed variance analysis and explanations for variances to budget/forecast.
  • Set up CAPEX projects and convert them into Fixed Assets in the assets register.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring proper recording of additions/disposals, depreciation calculation, monthly reconciliations, and capital budget comparisons.
  • Support external auditors, including planning and monitoring interim and year-end audit requests.
  • Prepare financial reports for management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Support the annual budgeting process.
  • Assist the corporate accounting team during audits by preparing documentation and facilitating access to financial records.
  • Seek and implement process improvements, efficiencies, and automation opportunities in the financial close process.
  • Perform special projects and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar business degree.
  • 3–7 years of accounting, finance, or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial management software, with advanced Excel skills for managing and analyzing large datasets.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and high degree of accuracy.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Open to growth, driven, and willing to learn in a complex environment.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle stress and perform effectively under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Progressive experience in Accounting and/or Corporate Accounting/Financial Reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains Financials.
  • Prior experience with an ERP system implementation.
