Senior Copywriter (CPG)

Our CPG client is seeking a Senior Copywriter to craft compelling, concept-driven copy across product, packaging, and marketing channels. This role is 20-25 hours per week (some weeks may be slightly higher). The core brand this role supports has a disctintive voice, seeking a Senior Copywriter who can balance, warmth, wit, intelligence, and clarity without becoming overly generic. The target start date is early November through April for a maternity leave coverage. They're asking for one onsite day per week to collaborate with the team and work with the product to inspire creative ideas, their office is located near Union Square. There is also a weekly team stand-up on Monday from 2-3pm they would like this person to be able to attend weekly as well (virtually or in person). Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and refine copy across packaging, innovation, ecommerce/PDPs, retail/shopper, digital, CRM/email, social, and other brand communications.Apply and protect the established brand's verbal identity, tone of voice, grammar standards, and copy guidelines..Partner closely with designers to develop ideas and solve creative problems collaboratively rather than treating copy as a downstream deliverable.Support product naming, packaging language, claims communication, headlines, campaign extensions, and consumer-facing storytelling.Edit and proofread copy for accuracy, tone, grammar, and legal/compliance considerations across multiple channels.Work comfortably across multiple projects and timelines, including quick-turn requests and projects where the brief may still be evolving.Partner effectively with Marketing, Innovation, Ecommerce, Shopper, Legal/Regulatory, and agency teams.QualificationsMinimum 6+ years of copywriting experience, ideally within consumer brands, CPG, beauty, lifestyle, or a similarly voice-drive brand.Excellent conceptual writing, editing, grammar, and proofreading skills.Strong brand-voice instincts and the ability to write within an established verbal system.Experience with packaging and short-form consumer copy is particularly valuable.Comfortable presenting copy recommendations and receptive to feedback.Portfolio demonstrating both strong conceptual thinking and excellent execution across multiple channels.In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data.
