About the role
This onsite position offers the opportunity to work on unique, custom automation projects in a collaborative, engineering-driven environment where craftsmanship and quality matter.
Responsibilities
- Develop and design control software packages using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and/or Human/Machine Interfaces (HMI).
- Examine and understand customer-supplied specifications to ensure equipment functionality meets requirements.
- Start up and commission equipment to operate in accordance with customer requirements.
- Program robotic and/or controls equipment per customer specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure minimum downtime and optimum operation of machines and equipment.
- Assist with checking design and details for proper functionality of your work and the work of other engineers.
- Provide timely service documentation for all functions performed.
- Offer technical support and training to end-users at customer facilities.
- Ensure products and services remain the benchmark within the industry.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safe work practices on JR Automation or customer premises.
- Travel up to 25% to customer sites and other JR locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline or Technical Diploma with three years of college-level study or related experience (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Intermediate understanding of electrical circuits, electrical panel design, pneumatic design, hydraulic design, PLCs, HMIs, robot programming, VFDs, servo applications, and device communication networks (DNET, ENET, Profibus).
- 4+ years of experience in controls engineering or a related field.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with customers, even under difficult or high-pressure circumstances.
- Current or prior JR Automation experience, or experience in the automation industry, is strongly preferred.
