About the role
Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Senior Control Engineer. This role is located at our Jonesville, SC site. Relocation assistance will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Supports plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining manufacturing automation and test systems.
- Performs a wide variety of engineering and technical tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems pertaining to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique design applications.
- Supports plant Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost by establishing robust test system and processes and automating manufacturing processes with advanced technologies.
- Leads troubleshooting activities on malfunctioning production machinery, equipment and software.
- Develops and reviews test equipment specifications and compliance. Testing types include but not limited to AC/DC dielectric withstand test, TCC timing test, partial discharge test, and system/sub-system level functional test.
- Leads and manages the electrical safety program on the site by making sure site equipment is compliant to internal and external safety codes.
- Analyzes legacy applications and makes recommendations for how to upgrade or replace the hardware and/or software in order to ensure long term sustainability.
- Performs upgrades to legacy software in order to support new hardware, changes in third party software or Eaton mandated software changes.
- Works with manufacturing engineers to develop and evaluate capital appropriation requests (CAR's) for new products, processes, programs and initiatives.
- Collaborates with local engineering resources and outside vendors to develop functional specifications for new manufacturing machinery and software purchases.
- Leads the commissioning of new manufacturing machinery and software including installation, debugging, validation testing and communication of changes.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and communicate effectively with other functional areas including: Quality Assurance, Design Engineering, Purchasing and Inventory Control and Production Scheduling. Capable of leading cross functional root cause and failure analysis teams.
- Applies critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork skills to resolve issues and prevent them from reoccurring.
- Plays an active role in assessment processes within the manufacturing environment. May act as a category lead or champion during an assessment process.
- Develops, implements, and documents production test processes and methods.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Five (5) years of Controls/Test engineering experience.
- Five (5) years of experience with various programming software including Visual Basic/Studio, SQL, and other Microsoft applications.
- Five (5) years of experience with Rockwell Software (RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME, FactoryTalk SE).
- Five (5) years of experience with NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand.
- Five (5) years of experience with Ignition (SCADA).
- Five (5) years of experience with PLC and HMI programming, and an understanding of safety systems design.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electrical testing procedures and protocols.
- Proficient in problem-solving methodologies such as thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, PFMEA, control charts, Pareto charts, and A3s.
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical equipment at component and integrated system levels.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret regulation and standards, and implementing Electrical Safe Work practices such NFPA 70E.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and trouble shoot electrical control, protection, instrumentation, and metering schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience supporting Engineered to Order (ETO) manufacturing plant.
- GB (green belt) or BB (black belt) certified.
- Demonstrated ability to work with little direction and effectively operate in a team-oriented environment.
- Able to assist manufacturing operations and product designers/engineering personnel to resolve electrical design and build production issues.
- Able to interpret, suggest and resolve equipment or installation issues with multiple and varied electrical contractors.
