About the role
The Senior Contracts and Grants Analyst serves as a key member of the School of Medicine’s Finance and Administration team, providing advanced pre- and post-award research administration support to faculty and departments. This position is responsible for developing and managing complex research proposals and awards, ensuring compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and University policies, and supporting the effective financial stewardship of sponsored funds.
Responsibilities
- Develops and manages complex research proposals and awards, ensuring compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and University policies.
- Oversees financial management of awards, providing guidance on regulatory and fiscal requirements.
- Partners with principal investigators and departmental stakeholders to facilitate proposal submissions.
- Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
- Supports the effective financial stewardship of sponsored funds.
- Coordinates the submission of proposals to multiple agencies, including the development of multi-year budgets.
- Completes and approves transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official.
- Affords assistance to faculty in planning for the effective and appropriate use of all their funds.
- Ensures compliance with agency-specific terms and conditions, federal OMB circulars, and UC policy.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 - 7 years of related experience.
- Ability to manage significant volume of transactions.
- Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
- Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
- Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
- Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsor's guidelines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
- Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.

Pay
The full salary range for the Senior Contracts and Grants Analyst is $68,500 - $121,900 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $95,200 annually.
Schedule
This position is a hybrid position, with three days onsite and two days remote.
