An ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement in a Fortune 500 supply-chain environment, supporting both new and existing operations through data-driven engineering, Lean tools, and automation.
About the role
This position supports Ryder’s Continuous Improvement culture by identifying and implementing process changes that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer interfaces with all levels of the organization, reports to the Lead Engineer or CI Manager, and collaborates closely with Operations Management.
Responsibilities
- Collect, analyze, and visualize data using statistical methods and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL).
- Map and document current processes; identify gaps and recommend improvements.
- Develop and execute a continuous-improvement plan that delivers measurable value for customers.
- Lead process-improvement projects that tangibly improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
- Facilitate Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events (A3 charter, pre-work, execution, sustainment).
- Coach process owners on Lean methods and operational excellence.
- Design, implement, and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) based on company and industry standards.
- Support regulatory compliance, certification requirements, and corrective-action systems.
- Apply engineering tools such as AutoCAD, labor standards (time studies), slotting, flow optimization, and resource modeling.
- Assess and recommend automation projects and material-handling solutions (conveyors, sortation, AS/RS, PIT applications, racking).
- Provide regular progress reports aligned with site objectives.
- Make inventory and supply-chain strategy recommendations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain plus five years of experience in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing; OR Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management plus three years of experience (if MBA, undergraduate degree must be in Engineering).
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Intermediate data-visualization (Power BI, Tableau) and database-programming (SQL, DAX) skills.
- Functional experience developing and managing: Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, Management Accountability Systems, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S/Workplace Organization.
- Intermediate understanding of core engineering and data-analysis functions (slotting, utilization, labor planning, layouts, metrics).
- Intermediate knowledge of warehouse-design tools (AutoCAD, Slot3D, MOST), Warehouse Management Systems (Manhattan Scale), and Labor Management Systems.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, data analytics, Industrial Engineering, warehouse types (ambient, temperature-controlled), layout/design, and Lean methods.
- Knowledge of material-handling solutions and automation (conveyors, sortation, AS/RS, PIT applications, racking, packaging equipment).
- Knowledge of Dedicated Services, Managed Transportation Networks, and equipment types (dry van, temperature-controlled, flatbed, specialized).
- Intermediate proficiency with transportation-design tools (JDA, Appian), network-design tools (Llamasoft), Transportation Management Systems (JDA, OTM), and mapping software (Tableau).
- Preferred certifications: Lean Six Sigma, cPMP, ISO/QMS, APICS, or Supply Chain Logistics.

Pay
Annual salary range: $100,000 – $110,000 based on experience. Exempt, salaried position paid twice per month.
Schedule
1st shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Travel
20% travel to Phoenix, AZ.
