Position Summary
The Senior Consultant is a core member of the project team, providing day-to-day leadership on management consulting engagements for retail and supply chain clients, primarily working onsite at client locations. In this role, you will own workstream outcomes end-to-end (plan → analysis → recommendation → implementation plan), provide technical guidance, manage client relationships and project activities, and ensure high-quality, client-ready deliverables across workforce management, productivity improvement, engineered labor standards, and operational assessments. You will also manage and coach analysts/consultants while developing toward the Manager role, and travel as needed to support successful delivery of project deliverables.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Serve as Project Lead for a project and/or lead one or more engagement workstreams end-to-end, providing day-to-day leadership, project management, and subject-matter expertise while owning the workplan, milestones, deliverables, and execution—including time and motion studies, work measurement, cost-benefit analysis, and process re-engineering activities
- Provide daily project leadership and project management support, including task planning, prioritization, progress tracking, and status reporting to project leadership and client stakeholders
- Lead onsite diagnostics and current-state assessments, including interviews, process mapping, floor observations, time-on-task capture/time & motion studies, and data validation
- Manage stakeholder alignment across all levels of the client and internal project teams
- Gather requirements and re-engineer future-state processes, capabilities, and enabling technologies to improve operational performance
- Research emerging technologies and methods that can deliver measurable efficiency gains for clients, and incorporate insights into recommendations
- Collaborate with all levels of the project team and interface with client team members
- Conduct time and motion studies and work measurement tasks for development of engineered labor standards, cost-benefit analysis, and process re-engineering activities
- Build and oversee core analyses and models (KPI baselines, volume-to-labor/capacity models, productivity opportunity sizing) to develop quantified cost-benefit and investment cases, and, where applicable, design and deliver engineered labor standards through work measurement, standards documentation, governance, rollout sequencing, and sustainment support
- Translate analysis into actionable recommendations and implementation-ready roadmaps across people/process/technology, including change impacts and adoption planning
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions; synthesize outputs into clear decisions, action plans, and executive-ready narratives and presentations
- Contribute to business development by developing project proposals, presentations, and supporting new client opportunities as requested
- Manage and develop junior team members by delegating work, coaching, and performing quality assurance on analyses and client deliverables
- Identify project risks, constraints, and dependencies early; propose mitigation plans and escalate as needed to ensure successful delivery
- Maintain strong self-management and productivity across onsite, independent, and remote work environments
- Travel extensively (typically 80–100%), including independent travel, across the U.S. and occasionally internationally.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 3-7 years’ experience in a consulting role using Industrial Engineering principles
- Proven ability to lead on-site client work in retail and/or supply chain operations (stores, DC/warehouse, fulfillment)
- Strong analytical capability (Excel modeling), structured problem solving, and executive communication (PowerPoint story lining)
- Experience managing or mentoring analysts/consultants (delegation, coaching, quality control)
- Willingness to travel as required for client delivery
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients
- Demonstrated leadership – with internal teams and clients
- Knowledge of change management principles, ability to create influence in implementing recommended solutions
- Demonstrated mastery of core industrial engineering principles and methods, including labor standards, MOST, work measurement/time studies, Lean, standard work, and capacity planning
- Excellence knowledge and functional capabilities with MS Office including: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
