Senior Construction Inspector, Transportation - Portland
Key Responsibilities
- Cook up, perform, and oversee construction work activities in the field or office.
- Inspect, observe, and ensure that a construction project adheres to contract plans and specifications.
- Maintain precise daily records (Inspector's Daily Reports, IDRs) of the work (labor, equipment, materials on hand, quantities).
- Identify contract changes and assist in preparing change orders.
- Communicate effectively with Contractors, Owners, Construction Manager, Project Documentation Engineer, or other field engineering staff.
- Prepare field note records (FNRs) for documenting work completed and progress payments.
- Coordinate for required materials sampling and testing.
Required Qualifications
- Typically possesses 10 or more years of progressive experience in construction inspection, including responsibility for complex projects and oversight of construction activities.
- Demonstrated proficiency with standard office and reporting tools, including Microsoft Word and Excel, for documentation, reporting, and tracking of construction issues.
- Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with client representatives, contractors, regulatory agencies, and the public, while also providing guidance and direction to junior inspection staff as needed.
- Highly self-directed professional capable of operating independently with minimal supervision and exercising sound judgment in the field.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple inspection activities simultaneously, prioritize issues, and track construction deficiencies through resolution.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, required for field assignments.

- General contracting experience
- ODOT project experience
- ODOT Inspector Certifications
- Experience inspecting Federally funded projects
- Construction material sampling experience
