Senior Construction Inspector, Transportation - Coeur d’Alene
Position Description
The Construction Engineering Services Practice is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector in Coeur d’Alene, ID.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, perform, and/or supervise technical engineering work in the field.
- Inspect, observe, and ensure that a construction project is constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
- Maintain accurate daily work reports (labor, equipment, materials, quantities).
- Identify contract changes and assist in preparation of change orders.
- Communicate effectively with the Contractors, Owners, Construction Manager, Project Engineer, or other field staff.
- Prepare pay item reports for progress payments.
- Coverage required materials, samples, and testing.
- Supervise and mentor less experienced inspectors on the team.
Required Qualifications
- 9-15 years of experience with progressively complex construction inspection experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
- Ability to work effectively with client representatives, contractors, the public, as well as peers and subordinates.
- Excellent skills in working independently in the field.
- The successful candidate must be able to effectively multitask and prioritize and track construction issues through completion.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, required for field assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management.
- 3-7 years of construction inspection experience working on large roadways, bridges, and highway projects.
- WAQTCs and ITD Inspector Qualifications Program Certs (IQPs)
- Has extensive knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the construction field.
- ITD project experience (ODOT and WSDOT are also considered).
- ITD Inspector Certifications (ODOT and WSDOT are also considered).
- Experience inspecting Federally funded projects.
