About the role

The Construction Engineering Services Practice at David Evans and Associates, Inc., seeks a Construction Inspector to join our dynamic team in Coeur d'Alene, ID.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, perform, and monitor construction work activities in the field or office.
  • Inspect, observe, and ensure that a construction project is constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate daily records (Inspector's Daily Reports, IDRs) of the work (labor, equipment, materials on hand, quantities).
  • Identify contract changes and assist in preparing change orders.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, owners, construction managers, project documentation engineers, or other field engineering staff.
  • Prepare field note records (FNRs) for documenting work completed and progress payments.
  • Cook for required materials sampling and testing.

Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively with client representatives, contractors, the public, as well as peers and subordinates.
  • Excellent skills in working independently in the field.
  • The successful candidate must be able to effectively multitask and prioritize and track construction issues through completion.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, required for field assignments.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of construction inspection experience working on roadways, bridges, and highway projects.
  • General contracting experience.
  • ITD project experience (ODOT and WSDOT are also considered).

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Pay

Potential salary range: $28.81/hr. - $46.73/hr.

Schedule

Standard hours are around 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but actual hours and shifts may vary based on contractor schedules and project needs. Evening or weekend work may be required, and we aim to provide advance notice whenever possible.
