Job Responsibilities
- Attends pre-construction meetings and answers questions from contractors and other attendees.
- Calculates payments due contractors for work completed.
- Consults with Project Engineers, resident project representatives and contractors' superintendents on work progress and construction problems; reviews equipment utilization data and time/cost estimates.
- Ensures contractors build transit, roadways, bridges and related highway structures in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Makes sure project phasing and traffic control plans comply with approved safety standards; inspects barricades.
- Observes and inspects ongoing construction work.
- Documents work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project.
- Performs material testing of asphalt and concrete.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
- Works in inclement weather (hot/cold/rain).
- Works non-standard hours/day, including some weekend and holiday work on occasion.

- The Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
- Reading and interpreting applicable plans, specifications, schematics, blueprints and maps

- Performing calculations using algebra, trigonometry and geometry
- Experience with City municipalities, TxDOT, toll authorities and/or other DOT, plans & specifications
- TXDOT SiteManager, a plus
Work Environment
- Intermittent unassisted sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stooping, crawling, pushing and lifting is required.
- Must be able to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time for at least eight hours per day.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving light equipment up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Must be alert to equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, ability to walk on uneven ground while physically maneuvering construction sites, ability to work in extreme temperatures or humidity, and potentially work at heights.
Physical Requirements

Other Requirements
- Possession of a valid state of residence driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Daily travel to and from construction sites, generally within 100 miles from the home office is expected.
- Short term, out of town, assignments may be required.
- Long term, out of town, assignments may be required, with advance notice of planned dates.
- May be required to work protracted and irregular hours to meet client's needs, including nights, overtime and weekends.

About the Role
- Foster CM Group, a highly respected Construction Management firm is looking for a Transportation /Structural Inspector in the Dallas area.
- Qualified candidates must have experience in inspection services for rail, transit/transportation (transit/highway/tollway/roadway and bridge) projects and a minimum of 3-5 years' experience working specifically on transportation project elements such as earthwork, embankment, lime treated subgrade, drainage features, bridge structures, drilled shafts, bridge deck pours, structural concrete, retaining walls, asphalt and concrete paving.
- Experience with tollways and WSDOT projects preferred.
