About the role
We are looking for a Senior CEI Construction Inspector to add to our highway team and work alongside our technical experts to provide contributions to the development of new techniques and standards. Help our team grow by mentoring early professionals while assisting resident engineers and project administrators in completion of inspection work in accordance with projects and client specifications.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring on-site construction activities.
- Inspecting materials in accordance with the client's scope of services (plans, specifications, and special provisions).
- Transporting samples to be tested in a Department laboratory or appropriate facility.
- Maintaining detailed accurate records of daily operations and significant events.
- Preparing daily inspection reports.
- Monitoring and inspecting the Work Zone Traffic Control (in accordance with the client's requirements).
- Performing inspection of the contractor’s quality control procedures.
- Performing material testing and verifying that procedures are in conformance with the approved Quality Control Plan and established procedures.
- Reviewing material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and measuring quantities of materials placed.
- Performing sampling and/or in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.
- Required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structure foundations.
Requirements
- At least 10+ years in CEI experience in roadway or bridge projects.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Valid State’s driver’s license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle background check.
- Operates tools requiring fine motor skills.
- Moves materials weighing up to 75 pounds periodically.
- Traverses construction sites having uneven terrain, slopes, confined spaces, or reinforced trenches.
- Conducts visual assessments of task quality and job site safety.
- Positions self to access tools and materials in various locations.
- Ascends/descends into job site areas to complete inspections and data collection.
- Primarily field-based role; must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Full-time position with standard business hours; occasional night work or overtime may be required based on project deadlines.
- Must be able to work onsite at a WSB office, as needed, as required by the project, client, or hiring manager.
- Reliable transportation required and the ability to travel daily within assigned territory. Travel may be required.
