About the role

Knight Insurance Group is seeking a seasoned Construction Defect Claims Specialist to manage complex, litigated CGL claims involving multi-party construction defect matters, primarily in California.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of complex construction defect claims from inception through resolution
  • Analyzing CGL coverage, endorsements, exclusions, and contractual risk transfer
  • Handling multi-party and litigated matters with a strategic, resolution-focused mindset
  • Setting and adjusting reserves based on exposure analysis and litigation posture
  • Selecting and managing defense counsel and expert vendors
  • Participating in mediations and settlement negotiations within authority
  • Preparing thorough coverage analyses and recommendations when higher authority is required
  • Identifying and pursuing subrogation or contribution opportunities
  • Collaborating with underwriting, legal, and management on emerging exposure trends

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial general liability claims experience
  • Strong background in construction defect, including litigated and multi-party matters
  • Demonstrated experience handling California construction defect claims
  • Deep understanding of CGL coverage interpretation and risk transfer analysis
  • Experience working with defense counsel and participating in mediation
  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload independently
  • Active adjuster license (or ability to obtain where required)

Pay

The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.
