About the Role
The App Packaging Specialist is responsible for building, testing, and deploying enterprise applications across Windows, iOS, and Android as part of the UEM → Intune modernization effort. This role performs end-to-end application inventory, analysis, packaging, and validation using MSIX, Win32, Intune wrapping, and mobile app formats. The specialist ensures applications are compliant with security policies, compatible with modern management tooling, and ready for deployment at scale through Intune and Mobile Application Management (MAM) configurations.
Responsibilities
- Perform application packaging (Windows) with proficiency in MSIX packaging, MSIX modification packages, signing, and conversion.
- Expertise in Win32/IntuneWin packaging, including detection/enforcement rules, dependency modeling, and remediation scripts.
- Handle mobile app packaging (iOS/Android) with experience in iOS app deployment (IPA, VPP/ABM integration) and Android app deployment (APK/AAB, Managed Google Play).
- Understand application behaviors under MAM policies, informed by established AFS user experience patterns (e.g., MAM job aids showing app protection flows).
- Manage Intune application wrapping, ingestion of LOB apps, app assignment strategies, version control, rollout rings, and deployment monitoring.
- Configure MAM policies, app protection policies, conditional launch requirements, data protection settings, and user exception handling.
- Gather full app inventories, analyze dependencies, identify repackaging needs, and build a migration readiness matrix.
- Execute functional, compatibility, and performance testing across Windows, iOS, and Android, validating apps under MDM and MAM enrollment scenarios (e.g., required MFA prompts, Intune Company Portal behaviors).
- Troubleshoot install failures, certificate/signing issues, dependency gaps, and Intune deployment failures by reviewing logs (Intune Management Extension, Event Viewer, mobile logs) and producing root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with security, platform engineering, and app owners to produce packaging guides, change records, deployment plans, and rollback procedures.

- Experience with analytics/reporting (Log Analytics/KQL) for app performance and failure tracking.
