Senior Complex Director, Excess
About the role
Join us as a Senior Complex Director to play your part in transforming the way we help customers manage risk. This role involves handling some of the largest and most complex Casualty claims in the industry, utilizing deep technical claims expertise to investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims.
Responsibilities
- Review coverage under Excess Commercial General liability and auto policies and participate in the investigation of the claim.
- Direct the litigation, attend mediations and trials, assess liability and damages, and recommend reserves.
- Present large value cases to senior management.
- Communicate with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and claimants with excellent customer service skills.
- Determine the scope and extent of available coverage.
- Investigate, evaluate, and disposition of new and existing third-party property and casualty claims.
- Prepare and execute investigation strategies identifying critical issues affecting liability, causation, and damages and assess risk transfer and contribution opportunities.
- Communicate and manage expectations with internal and external customers, including insureds, brokers, and underwriters.
- Document evaluation, thought process, and strategy.
- Utilize Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as appropriate and necessary.
- Evaluate and budget litigation of each claim through discussions with counsel, vendors, and insureds.
- Establish clear ground rules to maintain financial control of budget and expenses with defense and coverage counsel.
Requirements
- 8+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience preferred.
- Excellent communication ability (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills.
- Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management including ADR and mediation process.
- Experience attending and controlling claims - pre-suit, litigated and post-trial - at mediations, settlement conferences, etc.
- Property and Casualty adjusting licenses required and must be obtained within 6 months.
- J.D. helpful but not required.

Benefits
- Base salary range varies based on location: $118,000 - $173,000 for New York, $125,000 - $173,000 for Chicago, and $136,000 - $170,000 for Boston.
- Eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.

- Base salary range varies based on location: $118,000 - $173,000 for New York, $125,000 - $173,000 for Chicago, and $136,000 - $170,000 for Boston.
