About the role
Swoop is a market leader in AI-driven, data-powered, and privacy-compliant healthcare engagement. We are expanding our platform to serve the sickle cell disease (SCD) community and are looking for a dedicated community manager to lead the launch of our new SCD community.
Responsibilities
- Launch and lead the SCD community as a visible, credible, and trusted presence from day one
- Shape discussion topics, norms, and member experiences that reflect the real and complex realities of living with SCD
- Welcome new members and help create an environment where people feel comfortable participating and sharing
- Foster meaningful engagement and support through thoughtful prompts, polls, Q&As, educational discussions, and storytelling opportunities
- Cultivate safe and supportive community experiences, moderate conversations, and navigate misinformation with nuance and education
- Surface member insights, recurring challenges, and emerging themes to internal partners
- Contribute ideas to improve how the Community, Email, Product, and Content experiences work together to better support members
- Manage a broader portfolio of health communities alongside your primary SCD focus
- Analyze engagement patterns and community trends to refine strategies and improve member connection
- Experiment thoughtfully with new engagement approaches while staying grounded in member needs and community safety
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience building and managing online communities, patient communities, peer support spaces, or highly relationship-driven digital experiences
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to foster thoughtful, supportive, member-centered experiences
- A quick, empathetic, and thoughtful approach to member interactions
- Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate sensitive conversations with care and professionalism
- Experience building trust with diverse communities and fostering inclusive participation
- Comfort collaborating cross-functionally with the Product, Content, Analytics, Marketing, and Community teams
Skills and Qualifications
- Deep, credible connection to the sickle cell disease community through professional work, sustained advocacy, caregiving, or lived experience
- Cultural fluency with the African American community and a nuanced understanding of the trust, stigma, and healthcare access dynamics specific to the SCD experience
- Experience in patient advocacy, public health, social work, behavioral health, caregiving, or online peer support
- Experience balancing community insights, empathy, and data-informed decision-making
Pay
The pay range for this role is $100,000 - $110,000 USD per year (Remote (United States))
