Senior Communications Specialist, Transportation (Future Opportunity)

ICF seeks a Senior Communications Specialist to join our fast-paced strategic communications project management team focused on federal clients. This role offers the opportunity to project manage multiple task orders and work on meaningful projects that address pressing transportation issues facing Americans today.
About the role
ICF Next delivers strategic communications and marketing services, combining the expertise of a top-flight marketing agency with the resources of a leading international consulting firm. As the primary client contact for federal transportation communications deliverables, you will direct, plan, and create effective communications across multiple touchpoints, including media relations, digital media, social media, publications, speeches, technical documents, briefing materials, reports to Congress, press releases, special events, and exhibits.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement communications strategies.
- Project manage all deliverables, working with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Collaborate with federal employees to propose functional communications approaches, counsel leadership on strategies and tactics, and develop messaging.
- Develop and produce both public-facing and internal deliverables.
- Create and review all communication material, ensuring alignment with the client’s strategic vision.
- Manage the client team and act as liaison between federal professionals and ICF’s internal support teams (e.g., creative, technical subject matter experts).
- Meet weekly with internal teams to set short- and long-term goals that enhance client services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, advertising, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of professional experience, including:
- Project management experience for large-scale communications contracts or agencies.
- Project leadership/management experience with federal communications projects, including budget development and management.
- U.S. Citizenship (required per contract).
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience working with federal transportation clients.
- Directly applicable experience in a communications or PR agency setting.
- Experience in government communications or marketing.
- Knowledge of the federal transportation communications market and style.
- Consulting or agency background.
Skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the company and client.
- Ability to work collaboratively with varying teams and team members.
- Strong project planning skills, including collecting requirements, defining scope, developing project plans and timelines, and determining resource needs.
- Superior time management, attention to detail, and ability to think creatively to solve communications challenges.
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and provide succinct, strategic recommendations.
- Ability to “connect the dots” across tasks and identify “big picture” opportunities for contract enhancements.
Pay
The pay range for this full-time position is $74,090.00 - $152,404.00.
