About the role

Ardurra is seeking a Senior Transportation/Roadway Engineer to work in one of our office locations including Knoxville TN, Memphis TN, Greenville SC, Columbia SC, Raleigh NC, Asheville NC, Hickory NC, Durham NC, Huntsville AL, or Marietta GA. This role involves roadway and sidewalk/greenway design to support a wide range of local transportation and DOT projects, including minor and major/complex roadways and multimodal facilities. The position offers opportunities to mentor junior staff and collaborate with top local experts in the transportation industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform process design of multi-discipline transportation engineering projects, including evaluating alternatives, conducting engineering studies and design calculations, and performing preliminary and detailed design.
  • Provide technical expertise to ensure compliance with design intent, project scope, and state and federal design criteria and standards.
  • Develop contract plans and prepare technical specifications and cost estimates.
  • Assist with project execution and delivery, including development of project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of engineers, designers, and technicians assigned to specific projects.
  • Perform quality control on engineering work products, including design calculations, models, drawings, reports, specifications, and estimates.
  • Assist with marketing and business development efforts.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with internal and external partners/stakeholders, including clients, discipline leads, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and utility companies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 10+ years of post-licensure engineering experience in transportation/roadway design.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer, with the ability to train and supervise the technical work of engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Experience preparing final design plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
