We are seeking a Senior Transportation Planning Specialist to manage a compliance and monitoring program focused on transportation demand management (TDM) plans for development sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in TDM, multimodal transportation systems, and the land use development process.
About the Role
This role involves day-to-day management of a compliance and monitoring program for TDM plans, ensuring development sites adhere to transportation demand strategies and zoning requirements.
Responsibilities
- Stay abreast of development cycles, approvals, and construction activities and track schedules, documentation, and TDM needs.
- Coordinate with clients, developers, and project teams to support implementation of TDM infrastructure and zoning compliance requirements.
- Conduct and report on TDM monitoring and compliance activities.
- Maintain accurate records, data systems, and compliance documentation.
- Produce high-quality materials such as reports, white papers, presentations, and briefs.
- Manage databases, including data entry, format updates, and report generation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, transportation planning, environmental studies, public policy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning, zoning compliance, or development-focused TDM.
- Experience managing and maintaining databases, including data entry, updates, and report generation.
Skills
- Knowledge of transportation demand management, urban planning, and transit-oriented development principles.
- Experience with monitoring and compliance processes.
- Ability to manage teams and produce high-quality deliverables under deadlines.
- Project or staff management experience requiring coordination across multiple contractors, departments, or disciplines.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in deliverables.
- Preferred: SQL or Python experience, GIS skills, familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Azure), and experience designing data dashboards in PowerBI or Tableau.
- Preferred: Staff management experience, including delivering high-quality projects on time.
- Preferred: Experience with TDM site plan development, monitoring, or compliance.
- Preferred: AICP or LEED AP certification.
Pay
The pay range for this full-time position is $98,187.00 - $166,919.00 (Arlington, VA). Final pay is determined by relevant work experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, education, and contract provisions.
