About the role

The Senior Commissioning Engineer is responsible for project and client team execution across multiple practices under CodeGreen Sustainability. This role balances hands-on technical oversight with project management duties to support both project team performance and client objectives. The position is hybrid in our NYC office and requires travel to client sites in and around NYC. Relocation assistance is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Provide main point of contact (POC) and project management oversight for multiple client teams.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget according to contract terms and client expectations.
  • Support client teams in translating client needs into actionable strategies, ensuring feasibility and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with the Director / AD and/or Team Leads for adequate resourcing and workload distribution across multiple projects.
  • Oversee project quality control, conducting regular evaluations and implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Identify project potential risks and provide proactive solutions to mitigate challenges.
  • Provide training, education, and engagement to junior commissioning employees and key client stakeholders.
  • Conduct work/analysis and produce high-quality deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Manage both internal team and external client expectations.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Autonomously lead practice projects and client engagements.
  • Manage project budgets and utilize project management software to ensure project health and profitability.
  • Ensure adherence to CGS contract terms and coordinate additional services as required.
  • Define overall project objectives, goals, and strategies and provide project management to ensure successful execution.
  • Coordinate project timelines, tasks, and deliverables to ensure proper completion and delivery.
  • Actively contribute to project execution, including technical analysis, reporting, and client deliverables.
  • Support project team members in problem-solving and decision-making to drive successful project outcomes.
  • Provide client management through outreach and engagement.
  • Support business development efforts for existing and new clientele through meetings, presentations, events, and conferences.
  • Establish and maintain critical client accounts and relationships.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for select client relationships.
  • Support Associate Directors to match client requests with existing CGS service lines to add value and increase revenue.
  • Coordinate project billing processes, ensuring timely invoicing and clear financial tracking for each project.
  • Implement CGS standard administrative protocols to support effective project management and business analytics.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, including client communications, project updates, and compliance records.
  • Target hour distribution: 80% project billable time, 20% non-billable.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of direct experience in building commissioning.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related subject preferred. Related technical commissioning training and experience may be accepted in lieu of education.
  • Certified Building Commissioning Agent, CCP, BCxP, CxA (AABC) or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of local codes, IECC, ASHRAE, LEED, and various state/local requirements.
  • Ability to review MEP submittals, navigating between requirements listed on drawings and project specifications.
  • Ability to review equipment sequences and interlocks, develop functional performance tests to confirm proper operation of equipment.
  • Experience testing mechanical equipment including large central plants, and experience testing lighting controls systems.
  • Understanding of Building Automation Systems – ability to review graphics, alarms, and trending, identifying system shortcomings.
  • Experience/expertise with using test equipment, such as ADM airflow data multimeter (and velgrid, flow-hood, etc.), ultrasonic leak detector, ultrasonic flow meter, HDM (hydrometer) combustion analyzer, and other common test equipment.
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects in different phases of design and construction.

Pay

$125,000.00 - $140,000.00 Annually
