About the role

The Senior Commercial Underwriter at Shore United Bank is a credit analysis specialist responsible for underwriting complex commercial loan requests. This role involves structuring loans, ensuring compliance with regulations and bank policy, and preparing detailed approval packages.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and analyze data on prospective and active borrowing accounts, including financial statements, agency reports, and interview and investigation sheets.
  • Evaluate the short- and long-run prospects of individuals or companies and recommend loan decisions to appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare sufficient information to support loan recommendations and conduct thorough credit analysis and documentation reviews.
  • Ensure all credit analysis activities comply with prescribed lending policies and may exercise loan authority within set limits.
  • Communicate affiliate products and services to promote Shore Bancshares’ image and meet client needs.
  • Operate efficiently and productively despite handling the most complex transactions and projects.
  • Demonstrate compliance awareness by completing required training and supporting risk management, safety, and regulatory adherence.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma/GED equivalent.
  • A bachelor’s or associate’s degree in a related field of study preferred, or a minimum of 7 years’ related experience and specialized financial analysis training.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a credit underwriting or credit analyst role.
  • An understanding of credit analysis equivalent to that which would be confirmed by RMA’s Credit Analysis Certificate.
  • Proficient ability to analyze and interpret financial statements and draw conclusions based on common-sized, trend, comparative, and UCA analyses.
  • Intermediate knowledge of current lending and loan review regulations and banking regulations, procedures, and operations.

Qualifications

Pay

The pay range for this position is $93,400 to $141,800 annually. Actual compensation offered may vary based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, licensure requirements, and skill level.

Schedule

Full-time, exempt. Days of work: Monday-Friday.
