ManagementFull-time
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and optimize 5-axis CNC programs for various multi-axis machining centers (e.g., Mazak, DMG Mori, Okuma, Haas) using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam).
- Create and edit G-code and M-code programs to ensure efficient and accurate machining of intricate aerospace and defense components from exotic materials such as Inconel, Titanium, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum alloys.
- Analyze engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications, and design requirements to determine optimal machining strategies, tooling, and fixturing.
- Perform comprehensive program validation through simulations (e.g., Vericut) to detect and resolve potential collisions, gouges, and other machining issues prior to physical setup.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineers, machinists, and quality control personnel to troubleshoot issues, refine processes, and ensure product conformity and performance.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and workholding devices based on material, part geometry, and machining strategy.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process optimization, cycle time reduction, and cost savings.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, quality standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001), and regulatory requirements relevant to the defense and aerospace industry.
- Document programming procedures, setup sheets, and best practices.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior programmers and machinists.
Requirements & Desired Skills
- Associate's degree in a technical field (e.g., Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Technology, Metrology) or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in 5-axis CNC programming within the defense or aerospace industry.
- Proven expertise with at least one major CAM software package (Mastercam, preferred).
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and CAD models.
- In-depth knowledge of various cutting tools, inserts, and machining parameters for a wide range of materials.
- Experience with machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting of 5-axis CNC milling and/or mill-turn machines.
- Familiarity with simulation software (e.g., Vericut) for program validation.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a strong analytical mindset.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
