About the role

Oteemo is seeking a Senior Cloud Administrator and DevSecOps Architect to join our team of hands-on engineering consultants, supporting our customers' development, test, and production environments. This role is for an experienced Platform and Infrastructure Architect and Solutioneer, capable of identifying and implementing end-to-end solutions for large and complex systems across both cloud and hybrid on-premise environments.

You will function as a subject matter expert for the customer, leading a small team of Cloud Engineers to identify, propose, develop, and implement infrastructure and platform solutions. Candidates should have experience designing large system solutions and communicating them effectively with C-Suite leaders and non-technical staff, as well as experience leading or managing a small team of engineers.

Responsibilities include system administration, networking, CI/CD pipeline administration in GitLab, pipeline and security tooling, vulnerability assessments and scanning, Kubernetes Cluster Administration (AKS and on-prem K8S), testing infrastructure, building machine and container images, and upgrades and maintenance of system infrastructure and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end infrastructure and platform solutions for large, complex systems in cloud and hybrid environments
• Lead a small team of Cloud Engineers to develop and deploy solutions
• Act as a subject matter expert for customers, advocating technical designs to C-Suite and non-technical audiences
• Administer systems, networking, and CI/CD pipelines in GitLab
• Manage Kubernetes clusters (AKS and on-prem K8S), including administration, upgrades, and maintenance
• Build and deploy container images using Docker, Podman, or Helm
• Automate development and infrastructure tasks using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Chef)
• Implement and integrate security tooling into the operational stack
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and scanning
• Script automation tasks using BASH and Python
• Develop and deliver engineering presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a systems administrator in Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, and Linux
• At least 1 year of experience leading a team of engineers
• Experience building and delivering engineering presentations for C-Suite leaders and non-technical audiences
• Experience with Kubernetes (AKS, GKE, EKS, RKE2, K3D, OpenShift, etc.), with AKS preferred
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and Linux administration
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Chef; Terraform preferred)
• Experience with BASH and Python scripting for automation
• Hands-on experience automating development and infrastructure tasks
• Hands-on experience implementing and integrating security tooling into the operational stack
• One of the following certifications: Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, or CCNA Security

Qualifications

• Experience building and deploying container images in Docker/Podman/Helm (preferred)
• Hands-on experience with service catalogue self-service automation (preferred)
• Experience using AI for automation (preferred)
• Proof of completing a training or course in one of the following areas (or ability to complete post-hire):

• Proof of completing a training course in Microsoft Azure in both of the following areas (or ability to complete post-hire):
