About the role
We are seeking a committed professional to join our Neuroscience team as a Senior Clinical Specialist supporting Neuromodulation Pain, Targeted Drug Delivery, and Interventional Therapies. While this is a remote position, the candidate must reside within the assigned territory and travel to multiple accounts throughout the region. A valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance are required; driving record will be reviewed.
Responsibilities
- Represents Medtronic as a device specialist during surgical procedures by ensuring availability of required equipment and products, providing technical support and device selection, and performing programming and testing of all device systems
- Manages patients through all phases of the clinical process and educates them on features and benefits of Medtronic products
- Provides clinical support in surgeries, re-programmings, troubleshooting, and follow-ups in hospitals and clinics
- Educates and trains physicians, hospital personnel, and office staff on products and therapies via one-on-one sessions, formal in-services, education programs, seminars, and symposia aligned with the quarterly Plan of Action
- Responds promptly and professionally to device-related inquiries from customers and patients
- Flexible scheduling to support clinical events, including weekends, after-hours, and events outside normal business hours at the discretion of the Clinical Specialist Manager
- Adheres to company policies and completes required event reporting and documentation using Medtronic technology tools
- Manages inventory for case coverage, including timely transactions, maintaining cycle count accuracy, executing product retrievals, and ensuring timely turnover; does not implant expired or on-hold product
- Contributes to quarterly goals tied to district, regional, and/or national initiatives by partnering with colleagues and communicating regularly with leadership
- Maintains working knowledge of competitive products
- Regularly visits accounts to establish and maintain relationships with office staff and healthcare providers
- Places orders with customer service for pending purchase orders and product replacement; works with materials management to collect POs for covered cases
- Ensures understanding of all personally applicable quality policies/system items
- Assists management and Sales Training in education/training of new employees within the district
- Effectively utilizes Excel, mobile phone, iPad, laptop, and/or Samsung tablet
- Manages business expenses and budget within given timeframes
- Serves as a clinical leader within territory and district, demonstrating high autonomy and expert clinical acumen
- Primary contact for complex case coverage and troubleshooting
- Active in territory business planning aligned with sales objectives
- Acts as a field trainer and mentors fellow Associate Clinical Specialists and Clinical Specialists
- Completes all new-hire therapy trainings and corporate compliance training by due dates
- Travels to cover district cases as needed
Qualifications
Must Have
- A High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 8 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or
- An Associate Degree with a minimum of 6 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or
- A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of clinical or medical sales experience
Nice to Have
- Degree in a healthcare-related field
- Registered nurse or healthcare professional with experience in a sterile environment
- Clinical experience with implantable neurological products and patient care
- Experience servicing medical personnel on product use
- Experience with a medical device company or pharmaceutical company and clinical experience in neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, operating room, pain management, or home health care
- Understanding of basic reimbursement and the healthcare environment
Additional Job Requirements
- Required to function using healthcare universal precautions to minimize exposure to infectious disease and radiation
- Ability to serve as the primary resource for scheduled and unscheduled clinical events; may work weekends, evenings, nights, and overnight travel within own district or neighboring districts
- Ability to work efficiently and autonomously with little direction outside of clinical events
- Ability to attend national meetings, district meetings, and other requested training
- Ability to wear a 7–9 lb protective lead apron for extended periods in the operating room
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 8+ hours per day; frequent bending/stooping, squatting, and balancing
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment for travel and computer use
- Valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance; driving record will be reviewed
- For baccalaureate degrees earned outside the U.S., the degree must satisfy 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A)
