Job Description
The successful candidate will join the MBChB Senior Executive Team, which comprises the MBChB Lead, Deputy Lead for the MBChB (Early Years), Director of Teaching in Highland, GP Teaching Lead and the SMMSN Education Manager. This is a 0.5 FTE University appointment (20 hours per week), with funding provided by the University for five sessions per week dedicated to academic leadership, teaching, curriculum development, and quality enhancement of the MBChB programme.
The University is keen to support the role as part of an integrated clinical academic portfolio and, subject to agreement with NHS Grampian and the circumstances of the successful candidate, additional clinical sessions may be added to align academic and clinical responsibilities within a single role.
Responsibilities
- Leading the clinical components of the MBChB curriculum, including the student clinical experience and associated processes, partnerships, and quality assurance activities.
- Supporting the wider provision and enhancement of clinical education across other programmes within the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition.
Requirements
- An inspiring and experienced clinical educator with a strong commitment to excellence in medical education.
- A strong track record in delivering medical student education.
- Experience in curriculum development and quality assurance.
- Ability to contribute to all aspects of programme leadership.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a relevant medical degree and a proven track record in medical education. They will also have experience in clinical education and a commitment to academic excellence.

Benefits
The University offers a competitive salary range of £111,430 - £148,064 per annum, depending on experience. The role includes funding for five sessions per week dedicated to academic leadership, teaching, curriculum development, and quality enhancement of the MBChB programme.
Pay
The salary will be at the appropriate point on the Clinical Consultant salary scale, 50% of £111,430 - £148,064 per annum, with placement according to clinical experience.
Schedule
The role is a 0.5 FTE University appointment (20 hours per week).
