About the role
The Senior Department Administrator is assigned to one or more divisions within the John W. Deming Department of Medicine and is responsible for the business administration of those divisions. This includes financial management, human resources, clinical activities, grants and contracts coordination, strategic planning, operations management, oversight of satellite clinics, and fellowship training programs.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate working knowledge of grants management
- Create and manage large budgets
- Understand healthcare and patient care business operations
- Exhibit high proficiency with Excel and other computer software packages
- Apply solid analytical skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Multi-task and prioritize work assignments without direct supervision
- Maintain confidentiality in all work performed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and five years of experience in related administration, supervisory, and management positions or high school diploma/equivalent and eleven years of experience in related administration, supervisory, and management positions
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s level education
- Three years of experience with extramural research funding
- Three years of experience with patient care contract negotiation
- Five years of experience in the patient care environment, including direct patient handling, physician billing, collections, and insurance filing
