Senior Claims Specialist, Cyber
About the role
The Claims team at AXA XL sets us apart with their specialized expertise in handling complex claims. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated professional claims counsel team in a rapidly growing and dynamic segment.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned complex Cyber and Technology claims across multiple jurisdictions, setting the case strategy in partnership with the Cyber Practice Leader and Claims Management.
- Independently manage caseload in all aspects within approved authority level, including initial claim evaluation, coverage analysis, preparation of written coverage determination, initial and ongoing evaluation of liability, damages, and appropriate reserves.
- Litigate management of Cyber and Technology Errors and Omissions (E&O) liability claims, including retention of counsel, strategy planning, and analysis that may involve alternate dispute resolution, direct negotiations, and/or trial management.
- Develop and maintain corporate client relationships, establish risk management strategies, and collaborate with in-house counsel on individual cases and strategic planning.
- Work with underwriters to create and develop insurance contracts, products, and services, and produce internal reporting while ensuring reserves are set according to best practice guidelines.
- Coordinate and manage communication with internal colleagues and external stakeholders, ensuring high-level customer service.
- Handle calls on the AXA XL Data Breach Hotline and identify, monitor, present, and report on emerging liability and coverage trends.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) are required.
- Advanced legal experience in the Insurance Industry or experience working directly with those within the Insurance Industry is required.
- Technology/Cyber sector, and/or insurance coverage experience is highly preferred.
- Robust background in insurance and claims coverage law, specifically Cyber & Technology, Privacy and Data Breaches, Libel & Slander, Trademark, Defamation, Media, and prior handling of matters involving Errors & Omissions Professional Liability Claims.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
- Effective collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Effective interpersonal, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to demonstrate critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to travel a minimum of 10-15% of the time is anticipated.
- Continuing education or professional designations in insurance underwriting and information privacy, including Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), Certified Information Privacy Professional, and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), are preferred but not required.

Pay
The U.S. base salary range for this position is $83,500 to $145,500 USD. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience, and location.

The schedule for this role is flexible to accommodate the needs of the candidate and the demands of the position.
