About the Role

Leads and directs a team of claims professionals handling Reinsurance and Open Market cyber, media, and technology error and omissions claims and litigation. Manages claims and staff in other areas, including Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Employment Practices Liability, and other specialty liability insurance products. Ensures claims staff follows company procedures and benefits are paid to eligible parties. Analyzes legal pleadings, documents, and statutes to determine validity of liability claims.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct a team of claims professionals handling primarily Cyber, Media, and Technology Errors & Omissions claims; manage team workflow.
  • Coordinate work activities, develop and coach staff to maximize proper handling, and build a team-oriented environment through empowerment.
  • Educate and train team members in best claims practices; review and evaluate performance, defining goals.
  • Perform quality reviews on claims in compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders (insureds, brokers/agents, insurance carrier clients) and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Provide in-depth coverage analysis and wording interpretation; conduct investigations and evaluate liability for complex claims.
  • Oversee direct reports in formulating and issuing coverage position letters, negotiating resolutions, and decision-making within defined authority.
  • Prepare and draft complex legal correspondence; maintain and update electronic claim files.
  • Oversee all aspects of the litigation process for high-exposure liability claims to minimize company risk.
  • Negotiate claim settlements within defined authority; recommend resolutions for claims exceeding authority limits.
  • Develop and maintain team processes and procedures in coordination with Claims Department Management.
  • Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Oversee outside counsel and vendors related to claims handling.
  • Stay current on state regulations, industry activities, and trends; attend settlement conferences, mediations, and hearings as needed.
  • Supervise and guide less experienced claims personnel, including reviewing settlement payments and denials (with appropriate authority).
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to management, including summaries of open/closed claims or bordereaux.
  • Support Claims Department Management and Underwriting as needed.
  • Maintain claims adjuster’s licenses or professional designations as required.
  • Oversee payment of claims based on coverage, proof of damage, and insurance appraisal; ensure validity per company policy.
  • Review and respond to claim referrals, questions, appeals, and grievances from claims staff.
  • Perform claims reviews and make recommendations based on policy provisions and processing guidelines.
  • Prepare and present reports on claims performance, trends, and operational efficiencies to senior management.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $146,900–$220,300, including geographic adjustments where applicable. The range reflects TMHCC’s good-faith belief at the time of posting. The hired applicant will be offered pay within this range based on geographic location, qualifications, work experience, education, and skill level.
