Senior Claims Adjuster, Specialty

This full-time position reports to the Manager of Specialty Claims and involves handling a wide variety of severity and complex claims, including coverage issues and litigation within Commercial Auto and General Liability lines of business.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 5–10 years of relevant and progressive experience handling Commercial Auto and General Liability claims.
  • Adjuster licenses, as mandated by specific states, are required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct management of general liability claims with potential for significant severity and complexity.
  • Direct management and oversight of commercial auto claims.
  • Direct management of coverage disputes.
  • Formulating claims and litigation strategies, assigning, directing, and managing outside counsel.
  • Promptly investigating all assigned claims to complete coverage, liability, and damages analysis.
  • Ensuring timely disposition of all claims in accordance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Maintaining and managing a diary system to efficiently and effectively resolve all claims.
  • Presenting recommendations to management pertaining to coverage, settlement positions, and loss reserves.
  • Building and maintaining key relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., reinsurers, underwriters, actuarial, brokers, attorneys, vendors).
  • Participating in claim reviews and claim audits.
  • Attending depositions, settlement conferences, and trials when necessary.
  • Performing other duties or special projects as required or assigned by a supervisor.

  • In-depth knowledge of claims, litigation, and trial process.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to successfully obtain the required state adjusters’ licenses.

Pay

The anticipated salary for this position is $90,000 – $150,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
