About the Role

The Senior Civil/Structural/Architectural (CSA) Engineer will serve as the discipline CSA lead for various projects, overseeing multiple CSA engineers and designers. This role involves leading and assisting with estimates, including FEED estimates, and ensuring tasks are completed within budget and schedule. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with engineering disciplines, project teams, clients, fabrication shops, module assembly shops, and construction.

Responsibilities

  • Execute design, analysis, evaluation, and technical documentation for assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Collect and interpret engineering data, develop project design basis, specifications, and perform detailed engineering.
  • Prepare engineering reports, calculations, and modeling as work products.
  • Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards, client standards, and company design policies and procedures.
  • Interpret and set design requirements per codes, including IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, PIP, AWS, and NFPA.
  • Perform seismic design of steel and concrete structures, including seismic steel connection design.
  • Design simple and complex structures, including foundations, retaining structures, and steel structures.
  • Experience with reciprocating compressor foundations and cooling tower foundations.
  • Perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to personnel supporting the project, including engineering sketches for drafting teams.
  • Provide structural calculations upon client request and design/retrofit existing steel and concrete structures.
  • Communicate significant issues or developments in a timely manner.
  • Participate in proposal development for projects.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues, review work products, and manage assignments.
  • Protect the company’s intellectual property rights.
  • Utilize software such as RISA 3D, MAT 3D, Foundation 3D, and RISAFoundation for structural and foundation design.
  • Attend department and project meetings as directed by the CSA manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional engineer (PE) registration is required; California PE is a plus.
  • NCEES Record is desired; if not obtained, it is expected within six months of joining.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in civil and structural design.
  • Minimum 10 years of design experience in the refining or petrochemical industry.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and see.
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body.
  • Primarily involves sitting for extended periods.
