Job Duties
- Design and draft civil engineering plans from concept to final, including public drawings, on-site drawings, and produce supporting calculations.
- Perform engineering calculations, hydraulic computations, worksheets, and spreadsheets such as TR-55, TR-20, and HEC-RAS.
- Coordinate with clients and consultants to ensure designs meet their needs and specifications.
- Utilize best practices and design standards to comply with jurisdictional requirements and construction codes.
- Collaborate with jurisdictional representatives to facilitate reviews and advance projects through the approval process.
- Meet project milestones and deliverables, regularly updating the Project Manager on project status and addressing any issues or roadblocks.
- Participate in a development team to contribute to project success.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the civil engineering department director.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficient in CAD software, specifically Civil 3D, with skills in creating surfaces, making cross-sections in 3D, and using page sheet auto-numbering.
- Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times.
- Strong written, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail while maintaining consistent workflow.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Able to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
Desired Traits
- Willingness to take on additional responsibilities to support other departments as needed.
- Open to learning new skills and accepting constructive feedback.
- Experience in Baltimore City or Baltimore County a plus.
