About the role

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil Engineer and project manager to support surface mining and heavy civil infrastructure design and analysis as part of the growing AECOM Mining Division.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
  • Serves as lead engineer or discipline lead on mid- to large size projects.
  • Works with existing and potential clients to provide civil engineering and design solutions for mine sites.
  • Develops project proposals to support and grow the Mining practice.
  • Provides direction to and mentors to other technical staff in completing project tasks.
  • Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on work.
  • May be responsible for project teams that include 5 or more members often representing multiple disciplines including subcontractor(s).
  • Provides estimates, plans, schedules, and conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering projects, focusing on the civil designs, stormwater management of mining projects.
  • Provides advice and consultation to clients on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations.
  • Conducts hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and drainage/civil designs.
  • Designs channels and energy dissipation structures that include concrete, riprap, articulated concrete block, fabric-formed concrete, and baffle blocks for erosion control.
  • Coordinates with OSE, EPA, and other agencies for permit preparation.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Tracks and manages task budgets and schedules.
  • Authors reports and prepares/or directs preparation of detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and references.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Master’s OR PhD in Civil Engineering or related field of study (preferred).
  • 10+ years or more of relevant experience (preferred).
  • MSHA Miner training (preferred).
  • Ability to get a Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, or Colorado Professional Engineer (PE) License within 6 months of employment (preferred).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification (preferred).

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $115,000 to $185,000 per year.
