About the role
After proper instructions, performs routine clerical tasks operating a computer. Typing usage may vary; however, both typing and computer usage require previous training. Work may include the receiving and handling of money and the operation of standard office equipment for which no previous training is required.
Responsibilities
- Process filing of all original civil cases.
- Possess prior knowledge of civil documents and civil laws as well as local rules.
- Assist attorneys and the general public at the counter with questions regarding office procedures.
- Process mail received daily in the office, answer telephone, and perform other related miscellaneous office duties.
- Process passport applications.
- Handle normal routine technical requirements of the office.
- Operate office equipment as required.
- Coordinate work in the office through legal interpretation of documents.
- Input into preparation of new forms as new legislation is introduced and passed.
- Perform related duties as directed.
- Must be able to work effectively with the public.
- May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time with on-the-job training.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good computer skills.
- Previous knowledge of legal documents and their procedures.
