Position Summary
Orlando Health Physician Associates is part of the Orlando Health system, a leading healthcare provider in Central Florida. This PCP group comprises more than 225 providers offering comprehensive care in various specialties. The Senior Certified Medical Assistant role supports the physician or advanced practice provider in an ambulatory setting.
Responsibilities
- Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
- Participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
- Communicates effectively with patients and families, collaborating with administrative and operations staff.
- Gathers patient data through interviews and observations, assisting with patient preparation and examinations.
- Assists physicians or APPs during examinations and procedures, demonstrating competency in specific tasks and skills.
- Administers approved medications, documents treatments, procedures, and patient education.
- Coordinates patient scheduling, obtains specialty testing, and consults with specialty physicians.
- Manages incoming and outgoing calls professionally, using sound clinical judgment.
- Supports the orientation process for new Medical Assistants and acts as a preceptor.
- Develops and coordinates quality strategies within the practice, participating in skills reviews and competence assessments.
- Collaborates with clinical leadership and education to maintain competence of Medical Assistants.
- Leads and participates in departmental committees and special projects.
- Maintains reasonable attendance and complies with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or at least one year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
- Current certification or registry by one of the following agencies: CCMA (NHA), CMA (AAMA), CMAC (AMCA), NCMA (NCCT), NRCMA/NRCAMA (NAHP), RMA (AMT/ARMA/AAH).
- Minimum three (3) years as Certified Medical Assistant.
