Position Summary
Orlando Health Physician Associates is a large primary care provider network within the Orlando Health system. Providers cover various specialties including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and podiatry. They offer comprehensive care from pediatric to geriatric patients, along with referrals and coordination of care throughout the Orlando Health network.
Responsibilities
- Accountable to Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
- Participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
- Communicates effectively with patients and families, collaborating with administrative and operations staff.
- Gathers patient data through interviews and observations, assists with examinations, and administers medications as directed.
- Documents patient data, treatments, and procedures according to Orlando Health policies.
- Schedules and coordinates patient appointments, provides patient education, and acts as a liaison between patients and specialists.
- Assists with the orientation process for new Medical Assistants and supports their development.
- Maintains competence and collaborates with clinical leadership to ensure ongoing skill development.
- Participates in departmental committees and special projects.
- Maintains compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program from an approved technical school, or at least one year of relevant work experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
- Current certification or registry from one of the following agencies: CCMA (NHA), CMA (AAMA), CMAC (AMCA), NCMA (NCCT), NRCMA/NRCAMA (NAHP), RMA (AMT/ARMA/AAH).
- Minimum three years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
