Position Summary

Orlando Health Physician Associates is a large primary care provider network within the Orlando Health system. Responsibilities

  • Accurately document medical visits and procedures under the direction of the physician or advanced practice provider.
  • Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician.
  • Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
  • Participate in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families.
  • Collaborate with administrative and operations staff.
  • Assist patients and families with preparation for examinations.
  • Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Document patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department specific policies.
  • Process incoming and outgoing calls in a professional manner.
  • Help lead and participate in departmental committees and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Assist the business office with reception, scheduling, and discharge of patients.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program from an approved technical school or at least one year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Medical Assistant in a patient care setting.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Scribe training program.
  • Maintain current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • Maintain current certification by one of the following agencies:
    • National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
    • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
    • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (NRCMA/NRCAMA)
    • American Allied Health (NRCMA/NRCAMA)
    • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
    • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NRCMA/NRCAMA)
