Senior Category Manager

About the role

The Role: This position is responsible for managing the supply chain of direct materials suppliers and parts to support business continuity and optimization. Key responsibilities include sourcing, developing category strategy roadmaps, negotiating contracts, analyzing spend, creating inventory management strategies, gathering commodity intelligence, and managing supplier performance.

Responsibilities

• Manages supply chain of direct materials suppliers and parts
• Sources, develops category strategy roadmaps, and negotiates contracts
• Analyzes spend and creates inventory management strategies
• Gathers commodity intelligence and manages supplier performance
• Led cross-functional category team meetings and collaborates with internal stakeholders
• Leads supplier selection process and aligns production supplier requirements with NPI
• Develops and refines key business processes and champions team members in Sourcing processes
• Leads supplier scorecarding and supplier business reviews
• Develops and presents category strategy reviews for metals category
• Manages supplier performance and collaborates with cross-functional team to drive performance improvement projects
• Develops and implements mitigation plans and programs for assigned suppliers
• Supports plant purchasing by leading negotiations with suppliers to adopt lean sourcing principles
• Maintains master data integrity for suppliers and parts
• Mentors colleagues within the supply chain organization

Requirements

• BS degree or equivalent with 10+ years of supply chain experience in a regulated industry manufacturing environment
• Significant understanding of cost modeling, should-cost concepts, and building blocks of product cost
• Significant computer experience including MS Office products and ERP systems
• Proven track record of effective project management in a fast-paced manufacturing company
• Thorough knowledge of and experience working with kanban systems and other lean principles
• Experience managing Metals spend suppliers and/or technical expertise in this category
• Certifications: CPSM, CPIM, and/or PMP preferred

Qualifications

• Experience utilizing strategic sourcing principles, including six step sourcing process, category strategy development, and collaborative supplier management
• Strong negotiation skills, proven track record of savings, and thorough understanding of key supplier agreement terms
• Proven track record of effective project management in a fast-paced manufacturing company
• Proven ability to consistently achieve stretch goals and objectives
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
