About the Role
The Senior Category Manager will lead Carrier’s centralized $200M+ categories spend. This role is a key part of the CSA Supply Chain organization, reporting to the Director for Motors, Plastics, Fans & Blowers Sourcing Leader. This leader is responsible for providing sustained competitive advantage in product cost, quality, and production flexibility across Carrier’s NA footprint. The role involves working across business units, functions, and all NA locations to develop and implement best-in-class sourcing strategies and procedures. This leader will drive transformation within Carrier’s supply chain to deliver significant savings, increase productivity, manage inflation/deflation, and drive excellence in category strategy.
Responsibilities
- Manages global category spend for approximately $200M.
- Builds and executes category strategy to optimize affordability, availability, agility, and innovation.
- Develops and maintains expert knowledge of respective global supply markets, competitors, and product innovations.
- Establishes a cross-functional network and fosters collaboration with suppliers, supply chain organization, engineering, quality, and product management.
- Owns vendor performance data and reports metrics to leadership.
- Manages external relationships with suppliers and assumes responsibility for all internal activities and decisions associated with assigned categories, including contract negotiations, new product development, approved vendor lists, re-sourcing, dual qualification, pricing changes, quality, and capacity.
- Develops the commodity management team to drive global performance in collaboration with regional commodity teams and the Center of Excellence team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 7+ years’ experience with strategic sourcing or mechanical, electrical, or VAVE engineering for a global industrial manufacturer.
- 30% travel, including some international trips.
Skills
- Excellent negotiation skills and strategic mindset.
- Experience with strategic sourcing and lean tools.
- Digital dexterity and strong analytical ability to leverage data.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain strategy (development and execution) and category-specific experience.
- Driven problem solver with an appetite to independently address complex challenges in a fast-moving environment.
- Proven track record of successful leadership, negotiation, and executive communication.
- Strong business acumen and experience collaborating across various levels within a diverse, global organization.
Preferred: MBA and/or professional certifications (CPM, CPSM, CIRM, CPIM).
Pay
The annual salary for this position is between $117,500.00 and $234,500.00. Factors affecting pay within this range include skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
