Senior Casualty Underwriter

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, selecting, and managing excess liability risks across various industry sectors. They will also negotiate terms and conditions with wholesale brokers, build and maintain productive broker relationships, and ensure all underwritten business complies with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, select, and price excess casualty submissions within your authority and underwriting guidelines.
• Manage a book of excess liability risks across multiple industry sectors, monitoring performance and recommending pricing or coverage actions.
• Negotiate terms and conditions with wholesale brokers, balancing risk selection with commercial goals.
• Build and maintain productive broker relationships that drive profitable new and renewal business.
• Ensure all underwritten business complies with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Demonstrated excess casualty underwriting experience, ideally within E&S or wholesale-channel casualty.
• Strong analytical and risk-selection skills, with sound pricing judgment.
• Effective negotiation and broker-relationship management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; insurance designations such as CPCU or ARM are a plus.
