Senior Career Services Advisor - Financial Services Practice Group

About the Role

The MBA team in Marshall Career Services is looking to recruit an experienced career services professional to join as a Practice Group Coordinator (PGC) for the Financial Services practice. The PGC will support the Practice Group Leader in ensuring MBA students—particularly full-time MBA students—achieve professional success by building a financial-services-related practice consisting of an employer portfolio, alumni-in-residence, executives-in-residence, student clubs, peer advisors, and other resources to facilitate internships and full-time job placements. This is an exciting time to join the MBA team, which recently reorganized around this new model.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Practice Group Leader to develop a strategy supporting MBA students pursuing careers in financial services.
  • Conduct one-on-one and group career advising, including resume/cover letter coaching, technical interview preparation, and industry-specific guidance; hire, train, and supervise peer advisors.
  • Plan and execute employer-facing events to connect MBA students with professional opportunities and grow the financial services employer portfolio year-over-year.
  • Actively liaise with employers, alumni, executives, and internal partners (e.g., Marshall Career Services, Marshall School of Business, USC) to position the organization as a collaborative partner.
  • Monitor internship and full-time career outcomes for full-time MBA students and implement solutions to drive outcomes.
  • Promote and support marketing initiatives for employer events, career services training, mentorship programs, and individualized advising to enhance student engagement.
  • Build positive relationships with students, maintain ties with student clubs, attend club events, and ensure visible presence during key moments (e.g., conflict resolution).
  • Collaborate with MBA team members to onboard incoming students, support their transition into the practice group model, and facilitate movement between practice groups as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three years of full-time relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Career Counseling, or a related discipline.
  • Five or more years of full-time relevant experience.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $80,010.17 – $103,786.08. USC considers factors such as scope/responsibilities, experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market conditions when extending offers.
