Senior Cad Operator

Responsibilities

• Perform computer-aided drafting (CAD) for preparation of engineering drawings using industry-appropriate software.
• Use standard symbol sets and drawings to minimize drawing effort; perform hand drafting as needed.
• Reference information from vendor prints, catalogs, and technical manuals.
• Serve as the drafting lead, discipline designer, and/or drafting approver on multiple projects.
• Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets, and other data using CAD, according to client specifications.
• Submit documentation packages and produce drawing sets and standard operating procedures.
• Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data.
• Train subordinate CAD Operators and help establish drafting standards for the company.
• Purchase or recommend purchase of all needed hardware and supplies.
• Act as initial contact with clients or other departments; ensure CAD systems are updated with current hardware/software and equipment is properly maintained.
• Classify and organize engineering drawings.
• Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning.
• Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5-7 years of practical CAD experience.
• Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in graphic or drafting technology preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
