Responsibilities
- Perform computer-aided drafting (CAD) for preparation of engineering drawings using industry-appropriate software.
- Use standard symbol sets and drawings to minimize drawing effort; perform hand drafting as needed.
- Reference information from vendor prints, catalogs, and technical manuals.
- Serve as the drafting lead, discipline designer, and/or drafting approver on multiple projects.
- Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets, and other data using CAD, according to client specifications.
- Submit documentation packages and produce drawing sets and standard operating procedures.
- Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data.
- Train subordinate CAD Operators and help establish drafting standards for the company.
- Purchase or recommend purchase of all needed hardware and supplies.
- Act as initial contact with clients or other departments; ensure CAD systems are updated with current hardware/software and equipment is properly maintained.
- Classify and organize engineering drawings.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning.
- Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5-7 years of practical CAD experience.
- Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in graphic or drafting technology preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
