About the role
The Senior Buyer is responsible for the coordination and negotiation of key commodity items. This role involves professional and timely communication with internal and external customers, including cross-divisional collaboration. The Senior Buyer ensures order fill, manages inventory levels and flow, maintains correct product PO cost, and supports company goals in these areas. Responsibilities include purchasing, vendor payment, product storage, market condition communication, forward buys, and logistics coordination. This position requires multitasking, project prioritization, and highly detailed execution.
Responsibilities
- Meet established goals for Order Fill measured by daily lost sales within the Branches.
- Meet established Inventory level requirements measured by percent of inventory.
- Coordinate SKU count measured by total SKUs, aged inventory, and slow-moving items within the Branches or Toll Roast Inventory.
- Manage cost of goods through vendor management, opportunity buys, forward buys, commodity purchases, and freight costs.
- Organize and maintain file systems and records, including correspondence.
- Prepare outgoing mail, correspondence, emails, and faxes.
- Perform various record-keeping tasks and daily inventory reviews.
- Verify inventory and aim to achieve defined Service Level Goals.
- Support raw beef purchases and issue POs to external vendors, updating them until completion with accurate pricing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email).
- Ability to operate office equipment and work with minimal supervision.
- Experience with DAX and Adage software is preferred.
- Must have a commodities background related to the category and position, with strong communication skills.
- Strong team player.
Pay
Base salary is expected to start at $115–135K with annual bonus potential.
