Senior Business Analyst

Essential Functions

• Elicitation & Analysis - Analyzes user needs, business processes, pain points, and computer system capabilities to automate or improve existing systems. Elicits requirements using joint application development (JAD), interviews, document analysis, surveys, use cases, competitive product analysis, and workflow analysis.
• Requirements Writing & Visual Output - Transforms information from elicitation sessions into business and functional requirements, use cases, user stories, software requirements specifications documents, wireframes, and mockups. Uses standard templates and simple, unambiguous, and concise natural language.
• Ba Best Practices & Mentorship - Acts as a mentor to peers and colleagues in disseminating best practices and proactively seeks out training opportunities.
• Uses tools, such as Jira and Modern Requirements, to manage the change control process, participate in the SDLC, and track and communicate requirements status.

Required Experience

• Experience eliciting requirements from interviews with customers and creating well-written system requirements
• Experience with software development life cycles (SDLCs)
• Business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement experience
• Experience developing user stories and use cases that conform to business analysis best practices
• Experience designing mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices
• Demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills
• Demonstrated strong writing and organization skills
• Documented experience working for a federal/state/local education agency OR ed vendor
• Documented work experience with the issue tracking software "Atlassian Jira"
• Documented work experience with the requirements management software "Modern Requirements"
