About the role
The Building Specialty Services group within Stantec is seeking a Senior Leader to join and guide our team. This role involves technical and business leadership across various aspects of building envelope design, commissioning, and construction services.
Responsibilities
- Drive the service line forward from a business perspective within the Building Specialty Services Business Unit in the US Northeast
- Define scope of complex services and establish design criteria for projects
- Review design documents, shop drawings, and trade submittals for conformance with good building practice
- Manage preparation of contract drawings and specifications with a project team
- Conduct field reviews of both new construction and rehabilitation projects to ensure compliance with approved mock-ups and design documents
- Prepare and review site visit reports, generating action lists of outstanding deficiencies and tracking their resolution
- Undertake field testing of building envelope assemblies to confirm compliance with specified performance standards (primarily water infiltration and air leakage)
- Investigate, advise, and solve unusual project problems using innovative approaches
- Interface with architects, general contractors, and sub-trades to provide expert advice on design processes or construction methods
- Conduct forensic analysis of building envelope failures
- Provide technical presentations and thought leadership within the building science community
- Review and write proposals for new work
- Lead business development opportunities and contribute to driving new business for the company
- Mentor and train entry-level staff in both technical and non-technical skills
Requirements
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of Bluebeam, CAD, or Revit
- Project management skills for concurrent multiple projects with budgets above $200,000
- Practical knowledge of energy code, rain screen principles, air barriers, and thermal performance
- Strong understanding of advanced flashing, waterproofing, roofing, cladding, rain screens, air barriers, and other related systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Science, with a background in Building Science
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in assessing, detailing, testing, and constructing building envelope systems
- Valid driver's license and a clean Motor Vehicle Record
- Registered Professional

Pay
Starting salary ranges from $128,600.00 to $192,900.00 annually, depending on location and experience.
