Senior Building Inspector
About the role
The District Representative II (DR II) works as a lead inspector and conducts inspections relating to the enforcement of the California Health and Safety Codes and state and federal regulations within an assigned geographical area. The incumbent is responsible for mentoring and guiding multiple DR I's.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and conduct inspections relating to the enforcement of the California Health and Safety Codes and state and federal regulations within an assigned geographical area.
- Write reports related to inspections.
- Mentor and guide multiple DR I's.
Requirements
This position is located in Riverside and surrounding counties. Candidates who reside more than 50 miles outside of the assigned geographical area may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency within 50-miles of the assigned geographic area prior to appointment (and continue to maintain residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
Qualifications
Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License.
Skills
A broad knowledge of Department policies, State housing laws, rules, and regulations.
Benefits
Under general direction of the Codes and Standards Administrator I (CSA I), the District Representative II (DR II) works as a lead inspector and assigned the most sensitive and complex field inspections and investigations.
Pay
$6,922.00 - $8,599.00
Schedule
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Special Requirements
- Subject to enrollment in the DMV Employer Pull Notice program.
- Maintain a valid California Driver’s License as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to climb roofs, crawl on hands and knees under homes, climb ladders, bend, stoop, and walk and drive for extended periods of time.
